If the corners of the screen look faded that means it is likely on the verge of breaking away from the frame.

You will need to replace your window screen if it has been damaged or if it is close to breaking.
There is probably a sill cover over these screw holes that you will need to carefully remove to unscrew the operator.
The first step is to disconnect the crank arm from the guide track.
The sash keeper is the locking mechanism that the window lock hardware fits into.
Locate the window sash keeper.
Next look for trim mounting screws inside the screen track.
Take out the screen and crank the window open until the plastic guide bushing aligns with the guide track notch photo 2.
After the old pella crank window operator is removed all you will need to do is screw in the new pella window crank operator and replace the sill cover.
However the replacement process is similar.
Step 2 insert a putty knife blade between the weatherstripping and the window frame.

Usually the hard part about replacing this operator is the hidden installation screws on the pella crank operator body.
Open the pella casement window.
Remove the two screws from the sash keeper using a flat head.
Inspect the screen carefully because it might have small holes that you can only see up close.
