When you re installing the bathroom fan into a ceiling below another floor your new fan won t simply slide into a size for size opening.
If the hole is too small then you ll need to increase the dimensions.

An adjustable metal bracket may also be screwed into the ceiling joists and the fan housing secured to the bracket.
There will usually be a few screws connecting the fan housing to the ceiling joists.
